‘Enabling students to achieve their academic and sporting potential’

The Northumbria University Dual Career Accreditation Scheme has been developed to provide dual career support for highly talented sporting individuals. It is a priority of Northumbria University to fulfil the educational and sporting potential of individuals who are studying with us. Individuals are seen as student-athletes not athlete-students. Student-athletes are required to reach their academic potential irrespective of their sporting demands (i.e., if a student has the potential to attain a 2:1, they should still attain a 2:1 through the help and support of colleagues throughout the university both academically and within the sporting department).

Northumbria University have prioritised the development of the educational and sporting potential of all of our student-athletes. Northumbria Sport acknowledge the huge potential of TASS’s Dual Career Accreditation and the added benefit it would bring to the support services Northumbria Sport already offer.

The TASS Dual Career Accreditation ties directly into the Northumbria Sport strategy which commits to ‘Enabling students to achieve their academic and sporting potential through a dual career pathway offer’.
