University of Bristol Sport, Exercise and Health and Bristol Students’ Union work together to provide a wide range of opportunities for our students, with over 70 active student sports clubs and societies – and we are proud to consistently finish among the top 10 universities in the BUCS league.
The Performance team of staff which includes Head Coaches, Club Co-ordinators, Strength & Conditioning Coaches, and a full multi-disciplinary group, are fully focused on athletes achieving their potential, both in sport and academics. The individual supportive nature of our offer allows athletes to learn, develop and progress as they carry on their Dual Career journey at the University.

The Performance Squad is set up to support and develop the journey of our most-talented athletes who are combining sporting excellence with their studies. Alumni include double Paralympic silver medallist (Badminton – Tokyo 2020, Paris 2024) Dan Bethell and Olympic Gold medallist (Sailing – Tokyo 2020) Hannah Mills, as well as European Athletics Indoor Champion Jazmin Sawyers (Gold, Long Jump – 2023), plus several sporting athletes who have represented their country in competition, nationally or internationally.
