University of Bristol
University of Bristol
Bristol is one of the most popular and successful universities in the UK and was ranked within the top 60 universities in the world in the QS World University Rankings 2024.
University of Bristol Sport and Bristol Students’ Union work together to provide a wide range of opportunities for our students, with over 70 active student sports clubs and societies.
The Performance team of staff which include Head Coaches, Co-ordinators, Strength and Conditioning, and a full MDT group, are fully focused on athletes achieving their potential both in sport and academics. The individual supportive nature of our offer allows athletes to learn, develop and progress as they carry on their Dual Career journey at the University.
The Performance Squad is set up to support and develop the journey of our most-talented athletes who are combining sporting excellence with their studies. Alumni include Tokyo 2020 Olympic medallists Hannah Mills (Gold, Sailing) and Dan Bethell (Silver, Para Badminton) – as well as 2023 European Athletics Indoor Champion, Jazmin Sawyers (Gold, Long Jump). We had amazing athletes in Paris in 2024 including Michael Taylor (ParaTRi), James Peters (Sailing) Dan Bethall claiming is second Silver in Para Badminton, plus new students to Bristol Sally Kidson and Funmi Oduwaiye in Boccia and Shot and Discus respectively.
The University has recently signed a professional partnership with Bristol Bears Rugby as we look to push forwards in that sport and the Dual Career offer we have in that sport.
