York College
personalised academic support, pastoral support, and workshops in order to support academic and athletic careers
York College are proud of our TASS accreditation status and promise to provide a supportive and well designed student athlete support program. We will provide students with two designated and easily accessible DCC (one female and one male) who will be the key contact between student, tutors, coaches and pastoral progress coaches. The students will be able to access personalised academic support, pastoral support, and workshops in order to support their academic and athletic career.
Students will be invited to a college presentation with parents to inform them of the program and how the TASS program will support them for the duration of their time at York College. Workshops will are in place to support full-time students who meet the required performance standards – there will also be the set up of PDPs and 1-1 meetings put in the students calendars.
More about this site
Student athletes are encouraged to create their own social media group in order to support each other and act as peer mentors to each other. The current DCC’s have no teaching commitments and are based in the sports dept staffroom and facilitate an open door policy for support as well as specified drop in times within the week where students can come individually or as a group. Regular breakfast club meeting will be used to create a strong and vibrant bond between all our TASS athletes and support staff, where we can discuss and solve any individual or group issues facing the student athletes.
York College has a proud tradition of supporting elite level athletes with their academic studies and their sporting career and this program gives us the opportunity to provide an even greater support network for our student athletes.
