TASS and Badminton England establish first NGB-based
Performance Delivery Site

Badminton England and TASS have announced a ground-breaking new partnership which will see the two athlete-centric organisations work together to support players from talent to world class.

Supporting talented athletes has been the focus for TASS since its beginnings more than 20 years ago. Today, TASS works across 43 different sites in the United Kingdom, delivering high-level sport expertise to more than 1,200 athletes competing across more than 50 sports.

This collaboration will establish the National Badminton Centre (NBC – pictured above), one of only eight venues in the country with Accredited Elite Training Centre status, as a TASS delivery site. Until now, all delivery sites have been based within university settings, marking this as the first time TASS provision has been delivered from within a national governing body environment.

As a designated delivery site, our athletes – from our elite performance programme through to our talent pathway – will now have direct access to enhanced support from designated performance sport experts in strength and conditioning, physiotherapy, performance nutrition, sports psychology and personal development.

Jayne Ellis, Performance Director at Badminton England, said:

“We are extremely proud to be the very first national governing body to become a TASS delivery site. Performance support delivery continues to evolve and both TASS and Badminton England are evolving with it, tailoring our approach to provide bespoke athlete support services across our talent pathway and into the senior programme.

“Our objective is to continue to build an environment in which our players are given the very best opportunity to perform to maximum of their ability on the biggest stage. And this partnership will only help our athletes further unlock and realise their potential.

“This partnership will also see us welcome athletes from other sports into our performance environment, giving us an important opportunity to learn from a wide range of sporting disciplines and provide a wider core service to all our players. I am delighted we are the pioneers for such a forward-thinking collaboration.”

This partnership represents a new development for TASS, bringing together a comprehensive programme of support for world class badminton athletes and talented pathway players.

Guy Taylor, TASS National Director, said

“We’re excited to announce this new relationship with Badminton England, as the National Badminton Centre (NBC) becomes our first delivery site embedded within a national governing body. We look forward to demonstrating how TASS support can be delivered across the entire performance pathway, from talent through to world class. This is a highly positive step and we’re excited to see the impact it will have.”

TASS is part of the SportsAid Family.
